Destiny 2 PC Beta is Surprisingly Optimized and Visually Awe-Inspiring

Today I spent some time trying out Destiny 2's PC beta. In terms of graphical enhancements and engine optimization I find it surprisingly smooth and it's testament for what Blizzard's Battle.net service is shaping up to be. The fact that I can nearly max out all settings on a GTX 960 with 2GB of VRAM is very welcoming compared to the past titles like CoD: Advanced Warfare that was un-optimized. The FPS you got in CoD: AW was really disappointing based on the engine which wasn't graphically demanding compared to EA's Frostbyte or Cryengine 3 was, There was nothing that was extremely detailed and it didn't appear to be graphically detailed like the Crysis series which it always was known for it's Console-Busting-PC-Grinding graphical chops that put games like Gears Of War on Xbox 360 to shame.

The Orbit Meun

Destiny 2 is visually jaw-dropping in terms of color and the environments themselves. Once you experience the game on PC, You'll never go back to console. While I saw gameplay online with the Destiny 2 demo but seeing it there isn't anything like experiencing it in person. It's like putting a pair of 1990's headphones with outdated audio drivers with muffling sound and saying to yourself "well I got the full concert experience". The Plants pop out vividly, The environments are huge and detailed, Lighting really pops out especially with the lens flare and even the "Director" meun looks so beautiful. It makes Destiny 1's Orbit screen look boring in comparison. I couldn't say enough about the color being so vivid compared to even BF1 or Plants Vs. Zombies, It's definitely something to enjoy.

Destiny 2 Strike Mission

The beta content seemed to put me off a bit because the beta for the first game allowed you to
start from new and build your way up in terms of level, unlocking weapons, armor etc. back then and it allowed you to rank up to level 8. Here you just complete 2 story missions and then you're instantly level 20 with 200 light. It doesn't really provide the player an incentive to come back to play some more the next day since rank and light level is at the maximum, Weapons are all unlocked, There's unlockable armor and there's customization other than a few tiny tweaks on your weapon . I also find the quantity of maps that Activision provided for PVP (One per mode) disappointing.

On the upside at least the gameplay is smooth, Hit registration is really good and on target (hopefully that lasts for the long run) and the story cinematics were really awesome and definitely had that blockbuster feeling to it. I hadn't had any frame drops, hitching, de-syncing so the experience except for the remaining concern of longevity of the beta itself is really good overall. Competitive Mode could use some work so that games don't feel so one-sided majority of the time but other than that I don't have any other criticism for the beta.
Destiny 2 Competitive Map

For what it was I definitely enjoyed the beta but I still was hoping to get a glimpse for what has improved with the sequel compared to the main game and this beta doesn't really serve that specific purpose but hopefully Destiny previews more details or more details leak in the future to see how vast the game is in terms of content before the game comes out. For those who wish to pre-order Destiny 2 on PC they can do that here on the battle.net site itself.
