Razer Unveils Project Linda at CES 2018

Today Razer has revealed something new if you happen to own a Razer Phone. It unveiled a laptop that docks your Razer Phone so you can use it for either multitasking or as a track pad when docked and according to WCCFTECH it's reported to be the same size as the Macbook 2016 or 2017. So you could dock it and watch Youtube while you're waiting for your next chance to spawn in Rainbow Six Siege.

Battery life sounds really good at 53 Wh which is comparable to the Dell Inspiron Gaming 5000 which was last years model (not the latest one). A lot of reviewers really liked it for it's battery life but knocked it for the TN viewing angles (which depending on the type of panel, TN can be really limited the viewing angle aspect of it others don't experience that issue for the most part).

The way the phone aspect goes is it connects via USB C-Type connector that retracts from the laptop and you plug it in, Once you got that you're ready to roll but it would be nice if somehow you were able to charge the phone with it docked but that wasn't confirmed.

So while this is kind of cool but not really new, It doesn't appear to be in mass production phase so in turn it's a prototype. I'm not really blown by it like I was Project Christine (modular water cooled PC) or Project Valerie (Triple Monitor Laptop). I kind of was disappointed that Project Christine never took off due to Razer not finding 3rd parties that would incorporate the components into the little modules.

My Opinion:

As much as I like Razer's unique prototypes I feel like they are kind of ahead of their time for the most part besides the Razer laptops like for example, the Razer Edge Gaming Tablet. The Razer Edge came out almost 4 years before the Nintendo Switch came out so now Nintendo is taking the award while Razer's Tablet never took off for lack of battery life and the display quality. I felt almost like Razer also missed the bar by not going all out on it but I get they wanted to take it slow.
