How To Reduce Computer Stuttering and Performance Drops

Sometimes when you are doing a lot of tasks at once, the computer slowdowns or stutters especially when gaming. You might be playing a game and before you know it your frames drop from 60 fps to 20 fps. That's a sign of one of 3 things: It's either CPU overheating or your CPU is maxing out due to the tasks taking up so much resources from your CPU.

One way to check your temps of your CPU is to download software called "HWMONITOR" from CPUID, this software checks the temperature of your computer components. Intel CPUs typically will get maybe 60 C at the most but AMD CPUs get hotter which is normal. If it's above 90 degrees Celsius then that's a sign that your CPU isn't getting proper cooling and it likely throttling (slowing down) performance to help keep temperatures under 100 C which is the max level it's Desktop CPUs are made to withstand before damage and shutdown occurs. if it's overheating then get a couple of extra fans or a better Desktop Cooler to help get rid of the excess heat build up.

Now perhaps the most common thing is your programs are taking up to much CPU resources and it's maxing out at 100% usage. To check the usage go to "Task Manager" in Windows on the start meun and then look at CPU usage, if a game is maxing out your CPU resources then it's probably time to get a CPU upgrade for your Desktop, if it's not maxing out performance and you're running Corsair Link or something like that, just right click the program and select "Kill". You want to be careful what you "Kill" though, if you kill any Windows programs then you'll freeze up your computer.
