Cable vs. 4g Internet and The State of The Internet Industry

I'm currently spending time with at a family members house and while my blogger experience has been good so far there's something I need to clear the air about. If you're hoping to use AT&T internet on your phone and then use that phone as a wifi hotspot or even use a family member's internet, Don't count on download gigabytes of data for the latest game because at most you're get speeds like these which is really terrible even with a peak of 1.2 MB/S:

The best internet is cable internet or if you have to relay on cell phone service make sure you live close to a cell phone tower otherwise the less bars you have and further away you are from the tower, the bigger your latency in-game and worse your download speeds will end up being. With this type of service, location means everything especially when you're a gamer. You might be able to play games like CS:GO or Destiny without lag but if you want to play something like Battlefield like me with takes a lot of network power from the bullets, vehicle physics, hitboxes, weapon projectile physics and levolution effects not to mention 64 players on a single server you'll encounter a ton of rubberbanding and lag. The means of which won't allow you to play at all without thinking you're getting killed one shot. Lag can mean the difference in gameplay and how well you perform.

The only way to keep such lag under control is either go to a 32 player or less server or simply play something that doesn't require so much resources that are server-side bound rather than client-side. I always have relied on cable and personally don't rely too much on mobile networks for this reason even if AT&T in my area advertises 18 Mbp/s internet service which truth be told I'll bet with my experience it's shared across the neighborhood. Even more so than cable services like Comcast, at least with Comcast despite the crappy customer service you're getting good speeds, it makes mobile networks look like ancient technology from the roman days practically.

Despite my opinion on cable vs. mobile internet and my lackluster experience with it, I do acknowledge and understand that not everybody has the opportunity to live in the city, some personally fear living in big cities due to the high homicide rates which whom I don't blame at all. I just wish mobile networks would advance at a faster stage than every decade and that hopefully with 5G speeds will drastically increase. A cable internet alternative in my opinion is much needed due to the fact that cable companies have increasely became too big to fail corporations (not necessary the same meaning as in banks) and what I mean by that is that they have became so big that people have little choice and can't afford it much longer.

The cable industry is desperately needed to be seperated, the buyouts of cable companies over the years have taken a toll to customers and have strifle competition, These are things that the left would usually focus on if they were more focused on reforming industries rather than engaging in tit-for-tat tactics but this is a different world today. Hopefully with fiber we can get some more competition and the internet industry will be a little more decentralized. Decentralization is the way we can only get freedom back and it's something I advocate for whenever possible.
