Ryzen 2 to be released Q1 2018 With a Modest Upgrade in Specs

AMD is set to pull the curtain behind it's new Ryzen 2 series that is based on 12nm die featuring it's Zen+ Cores and a new chipset to go with it. The AM4 socket will still be retained so you most likely won't need to buy a new motherboard if you already have one running on the X370 platform however for those that have a keen eye for motherboards or just are starting to build a new rig AMD is planning to introduce new motherboards on the X470 / B450 chipset.

The Zen+ Cores will have higher clock speeds and support higher memory clock speeds which is usually how it's done in the second inning of CPU architectures. The new Ryzen 2 CPUs will compete with Intel's 9000 series which various sources have said that it will feature higher core counts and definitely is a first for Intel however the exact clock speeds aren't known yet for these Zen+ Cores but I would expect it to be a minor boost and nothing too drastic.

The word generally going around is AMD is aiming for a February announcement date but no matter what date in Q1 2018 it decides to reveal it's new CPUs 2018 is sure to be a heck of a year for PC hardware.
