Destiny 2 PC Confirmed To Not Have Dedicated Multiplayer Servers

According to a report from PC Gamer, Destiny will not have Dedicated Multiplayer Servers when it launches on Battle.net, it will have Peer-to-Peer based Multiplayer which will take a page out of one of Activision's first CoD games on PC which was infamous at the time for having peer to peer multiplayer which means mutiplayer matches will be hosted by the player with the lowest ping however if the player's internet lags then that affects the other players. If the host drops out then the match pauses and waits for the next player in line with the lowest ping to host the game. After it finds another host, the game continues usually it takes anywhere from 5 to 20 seconds to find a new host for the match.

Another thing that has been speculated online and now seems to be confirmed is that the game on PC won't launch on the same date as PS4 and Xbox One, in fact Bungie has stated that it will release later on and stopped short of offering a estimate date for the game. Personally I would rather wait a while to get a game that's good and works rather then a broken game that has to be patched and will drastically affect the player population which for the nature of this game: a Massively Multiplayer Game, player population is critical so when Activision announced it for battle.net that's probably for the best since Battle.net has been reported to have the biggest player base on the PC platform.

While these sort of disappointing set backs, I feel like Activision is doing peer to peer multiplayer due to the fact that they don't want to make an investment for servers that nobody will play on, so simply they are playing the scouting game and testing the waters to see if the game catches on for PC players despite the risk of losing initial sales due to players not like the peer to peer system. It's a gamble it's willing to take on.
