How To Not Fall For Tech Support Scams

Lately there has been an outburst of popups on the internet that tell you to call a special number from a place called "Microsoft Technical Support" and I know people that have fallen victim to this scam. I for one fact have received phone calls from this company and what they do is make you go to a site, download software called "Res-Cue" and enable Remote Desktop while they spend hours wasting your time then charge you a big lump of money for a non-existent virus that they put there in the first place.

The thing to avoid this nonsense scam is to simply ignore the message, make sure your browser is up-to-date and your Windows PC is updated to the latest version. A lot of outdated browser software versions tend to have this issue. You also want to make sure you have a really good Anti-Virus software and you don't have to get a paid one to get good protection. For those that have weak CPUs there's Avira and for other people you could users you could use Avast although they tend to sell you their other software within the free version than Avira.

So that is what you need to help avoid this scam and protect yourself from other threats online. It's basically common-sense, you don't leave your backdoor open for other people to run in and do whatever in your house, you lock your doors and anti-virus does just that. It locks your computer and protects it from viruses and other threats that pop up.
